Nutrition Course

Introduction to Module: (3 Hours)

This Module will help students to understand the food in a Health practitioner perspective. We will start from the introduction to food and nutrition and then to a wide perspective to food plates in different parts of India

Topic:

  • Health and wellbeing
  • Food and nutrition introduction
  • What should be there in balanced healthy meal (Food groups- Milk, cereals, pulses, meat, fruits, vegetables, oil and sugar)
  • State wise healthy options
  • Nutrients introduction (Micro and Macro Nutrients)

2. Macro and Micro Nutrients (6 Hours)

Introduction to Module:

The scope of Module 2 is to understand what is Carbohydrate, protein, fats, water and vitamins and minerals.

-Carbohydrate

  1. A. Available Carbohydrates types and food sources
  2. a. Monosaccharides, Disaccharides, Polysaccharides
  3. B. Non Available Carbohydrates types and food sources
  4. a. Soluble and Insoluble fiber
  5. C. Food sources
  6. D. Recommendation for Carbohydrates
  7. E. Low carbohydrate meal options planning

-Protein

  1. A. Amino Acids: Essential, non essential and conditionally essential amino acids
  2. B. High Biological value of food
  3. C. Food sources of protein

  5. E. High protein meal options planning

-Fats

  1. A. Saturated and unsaturated Fatty acids
  2. B. Monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids

3. Common Medical Conditions (3 hours)

Introduction to Module:

Module will help students to understand a brief glimpse of common medical conditions seen in day to day life

  • - Common Vitamin and mineral deficiencies (Vitamin D/ Vitamin B12/ Folic Acid/ Iron/ Calcium/ Magnesium)
  • - Common Medical conditions Introduction (Diabetes/ PCOS/ Weight gain/Weight loss/ Menopause/ Thyroid/ Cholesterol/ Period problem/ infertility

4. Diet planning (3 Hours)

Introduction to Module:

Before we start planning a diet plan, this module will help you to understand how to calculate the person’s Ideal body weight, How much weight loss/ gain they need if needed and finally every day calories. The total daily calories will further help to divide the meal on the bases of carbohydrate, protein and fats

5. Diet recommendation for Medical conditions (10-14 Hours)

Introduction to Module:

Introduction to medical condition will help the student understand what is the following medical condition, signs, symptoms, medical reports, medicines

Medical condition based live case study will be presented with the person’s medical history, biochemical parameters and then a complete Indian and International based Diet will be presented to the students to learn practically.
